Outer Circular Highway (OCH) is one of the highways constructed by the Ministry of Highways and the Road Development Authority to improve the road network in Sri Lanka.

Due to strong objection raised by some residents for the construction of the highway, the ground survey work in 4.5 km in Mahara, Kadawatha and Ihala Biyanwila areas and 0.5 km in Wattala in northern section has not been carried out.

NFPO played a key role in carrying out awareness consultation and information dissemination in an appropriate manner with a view to create a peaceful environment in the area and get the consent of the residents who are directly affected.

:: Social Mobilization - Public Consultation for the Township Development Component under the Greater Urban Transport Development Project

NFPO provides consultancy services for the Urban Development Authority on social mobilization and awareness building on the proposed project to develop townships in Kadawatha, Kottawa and Kaduwela. This project is implemented in parallel to the construction of Outer Circular Highway (OCH) that starts from Kerawalapitiya, Wattala and connects to the Southern Highway at Kottawa. UDA has proposed construction of new roads and widening of existing roads around these three towns in order to make the vehicular traffic control efficient and convenient. NFPO’s consultative service included carrying out public consultation meetings and individual consultations to make affected people aware of the proposed project and collection of information regarding the problems of project affected people.
